Banting Progress – Cholesterol Blood Results
The proof is in the “healthy fat eating” as they say.
Below is a table of my blood results from 13 Feb 2015 (the day before I started banting) and today (14 July 2015) – 5 months later.
I am absolutely thrilled!!! My Triglycerides were the main area of concern last time, and my HDL was too low. What that meant was I was insulin resistant. You can calculate this by taking TRI / HDL and you’ll get a ratio … over 3 is an indicator of insulin resistance. Below 1 is considered excellent. You can see my results after 5 months I’ve gone from 3,27 to 1,1! My healthy cholesterol has gone up – another good thing – my “unhealthy” cholesterol and total cholesterol have also gone up but this is an excellent result because the profile is MUCH improved.
It’s interesting that so many people use the “scared of what it will do to my cholesterol” excuse as a reason not to try banting but it actually improves your profile so much it’s crazy!
These results show that done right, Banting improves your cholesterol in all the right ways.

I’m stopping my Statins as of today – it’s a personal decision I’ve made after all the research I’ve done and I’ll be advising my Doctor. Having read what I have I should really never have been put on them in the first place and my cholesterol was best before going on them and now having banted for 5 months. It was at it’s worst for the years in between of eating the “Heart Healthy Diet” and then fat free with Dukan. So go figure. I will test for interests sake in Jan next year after 6 months of no Statins but purely, as I say, for interest sake and then I will never test again because as has been medically proven, it’s a pretty useless test! It is not an indicator of heart disease at all. But hey … that’s just my opinion based on a lot of research … you go do your own research and make your own mind up 🙂
