Banting Progress – week 13 of Low Carb High Fat Lifestyle
Our Facebook friends get regaled almost weekly with our Banting updates, but must admit a rather hectic work load has meant I sadly get very little time to update this blog … but with so many friends and family joining us now in Banting and being inspired by our journey I endeavour to do this more frequently.
So today marks the 13 week mark in our Banting lifestyle change and as of this morning I am 12.5kgs down so still fairly close the the 1kg per week rate. I’ve plateaued once or twice (once even for about 3 weeks) but then suddenly dropped 2.7kgs almost overnight.
After 13 weeks, I’ve dabbled with a lot of different theories with respect to the Low Carb High Fat lifestyle … I think as long as you stick to the guiding principles, you should try things out, what will work for one won’t work for another for example, listen to your body and research, research, research so you can spot a fad recommendation and dismiss it.
As with everyone who bants, you pretty much immediately notice changes in your body, not just the weight-loss, the other stuff, how you feel, your tastes, etc. Embrace these changes. I’ve gone from never drinking any hot drinks unless I had them with 3 sugars to drinking a sugar-less bullet proof coffee every morning! I’ve gone from the over-catering and salt queen to cooking small, nutritious portions with no salt most times. I literally sometimes get a fright when I see myself in the mirror because the picture I have of myself in my head is more like the one on the left below.
